2014 HealthCare Enrollments “In the Books”. Now What?

People still have options. Rather than have no coverage at all, people can buy catastrophic coverage through a Short Term Medical Plan. These plans are not guaranteed issue and do have pre-existing condition clauses. They are also not considered Essential Benefit Plans so a fine will be assessed if this is the only policy that is owned.

However, if for whatever reason, somebody opted not to participate in the purchase of health insurance, they can have catastrophic coverage, protecting their assets from medical liens. The cost of the plan is very reasonable.

Many people have chosen to pay the fine and own these policies as the total cost including the fine is still less than an Affordable Care Plan.
