IF YOU WANT TO DANCE, PAY THE FIDDLER!

There are many proverbs and “wise old sayings” that warn us there is never something for nothing. All of commerce, whether products or services come with a cost.

This is important to remember in all the discussions of health care reform. It is not a new concept to our country that some people will receive services at no cost TO THEM. We have always rendered care to the poor and indigent. That cost is not free to the society. The cost is born by the others who have resources. This goes on today as over 35% of the people in our country are covered at discount costs through different government health care. These “discounts” are then charged back to all the privately insured people as the doctors and hospitals could not operate with what the government pays.

All of the proposed “reforms” have a cost that will be paid by someone. I propose that some reform is good and helpful and would willingly be paid by the whole of society. What is being proposed is a monstrous change that could affect the quality of the best health care system in the world. It also comes at a monstrous cost.

The questions we need to ask are: Does the system need a huge and expensive overhaul? What are we going to give up to pay this bill?  Why does all of this have to be done so fast? because

IF YOU WANT TO DANCE, PAY THE FIDDLER.
