It was just announced that the Mayo clinic in Arizona will not accept any Medicare patients. The reason for this decision is that the reimbursements from Medicare are insufficient.

Now it does need to be said that many private Insurance Companies will not agree to the Mayo rates either. However, there is a “tea leaf” in this news. If the low Medicare reimbursements have seen decreasing numbers of Doctors and facilities accepting Medicare patients and the Administration’s goal to eliminate Advantage plans as too expensive,  Medicare recipients are going to find it more and more difficult to find Doctor’s and schedule timely appointments. Regardless of what is being promised, this is the reality.
